Visual Diaries to help overcome War Numbness

Lately, I've started using photos from my week as a kind of visual diary. Here are some from last week. In the past, I've always written from a place of strong emotion, but something about this war has changed that. A kind of numbness has overtaken me. When I compare how I reacted to rockets before to how I react now, the difference is startling.

This numbness makes it harder to tap into the feelings that have always fueled my writing. That's where the photos come in. They help me pause and notice the small details I might otherwise miss—shadows, textures, colors, or fleeting moments of connection. They evoke something beneath the surface, something I can use to rebuild the bridge between experience and emotion.

For now, my visual diary is both a way to process and a way to create. It's a step toward overcoming the numbness and finding my words again. What about you? How do you reconnect with creativity during difficult times?
